Ceramic Reconstruction
Cerec is a high-tech system that enables
our dentists to reconstruct teeth to their original
shape and size. Naidu & Naidu is one of a handful
of practices in the UK to have purchased the Cerec
system and have fully trained dentists in its correct
usage.
With Cerec we can produce ceramic fillings, crowns
and veneers to blend with the natural colour of
your teeth. What’s more, Cerecs can be completed
in a single long appointment. Here is how it works...
The cavity, or section of missing tooth, is scanned
using a miniature intraoral camera. The Cerec system
then produces a three-dimensional computer simulation
of the area of tooth be replaced (see photo).
Our dentists can adjust the simulation according
to the patient’s requirements. Once the patient
and dentist are happy with the simulation the computer
then transmits this to our ceramic milling machine
(see photo).
The milling machine produces a ceramic replacement,
for the area of tooth to be replaced, cut to a fraction
of a millimetre to ensure a perfect fit. Using an
intense ultrasonic light the ceramic replacement
is permanently bonded in place. The result is a
complete and natural-looking tooth.
Cerec reconstruction is available to patients as
a private treatment. Please ask one of our dentists
